New changes coming to an ancient site

An Ohio Historical Society project may bring an end to pungent odors emanating from the restrooms at Serpent Mound State Memorial. However, achieving a change at a national attraction, let alone an ancient effigy, can take years. Read More

Some concerns raised at the Friends meeting were the noise level of the lift stations and ability to keep them operational, the cost of operating the refurbished restrooms, and what would happen if they came across something of archaeological significance during construction.

Studies had not been completed on the first two items. On the third item, the response from the OHS representatives was that they believed research already done would help them avoid disturbing most artifacts, however, only a burial site would stop all work, other finds could slow it down.
