Our mission

Bringing the World to Serpent Mound and Serpent Mound to the world

The Friends of Serpent Mound and its resulting Board, was formed to improve the visitors quality of experience, expand upon informational dictates, advocate for, to protect, preserve and to promote The Great Serpent Mound (site).

We remain an independent, Non-Profit organization of like minded individuals, in service to our passion of Bringing the World to Serpent Mound and Serpent Mound to the World.

In our nearly twenty years of steadfast dedication, we have grown in purpose to include other local ancient indigenous sites.

  • As we look to the future, Our goals are ever expanding, and include:
    • Improving education and interpretive activities of the site.
    • Be the voice of the local community, and other interested individuals or groups.
    • Increase interest and participation in activities, programs and projects specific to site education.
    • Staying abreast of site development so as to be a greater advocate.
    • Conduct and provide volunteer support for site programs, projects and special events.
    • Act as liaison between those invested in the site, and governing agencies.
    • Develop and implement fundraising and educational programs for the site.

Protect, preserve, and promote Serpent Mound and other Native American sites, while facilitating education and experiences for visitors

Meetings

This year we will hold Monthly Meetings at the Bratton Township Building (2535 Louden Rd, Peebles, OH 45660), west of the park. We all bring a prepared dish and share in a meal before each meeting before beginning our government. (However, the pandemic could altered this timeline and location, again. Therefore, please contact us to be sure the meeting is still on before making a long drive.)

We are scheduling our meeting for the 3rd Sunday of each month at 1pm. Our meeting schedule for the 2023 calendar year looks as followed. We are still working on the putting together our Learning Series
