Jaymie Maham
Introduction to Appalachian (Mountain) Dulcimer
Jaymie is a local area resident and mountain dulcimer enthusiast who began playing the instrument in 2016. She plays a wide variety of music genres on this traditional instrument spanning from the usual things like hymns and fiddle tunes all the way to modern rock. She has a growing library of tablature for the dulcimer online at Sheet Music Plus. You can also find video examples and free tutorials on her YouTube channel. Lessons available.
In this informal workshop we’ll briefly discuss the origins and history of the mountain dulcimer, a unique stringed and fretted instrument native to the Appalachian region. A selection of traditional fiddle/jam/folk tunes typically heard on the instrument will be played as an example.
HANDS ON OPPORTUNITY: Instructor will provide access to a small number of additional instruments they bring on-site if you would like to try one.
In addition: Do you already have a dulcimer tucked away in a closet, under the bed, or stored in the attic? Bring it along! Let’s get you tuned up and ready to start strumming.

Debbie Keri-Brown
Automatic Writing With Your Angels & Spirit Guides
(About 2 hours)
Unlock your creativity as you connect with your higher self, angels or spirit guides to assist you in the writing process! Bring your pen and paper and be prepared to channel through automatic writing. A felt tip pen or smooth gliding pen is the best choice.
You’ll learn how to prepare yourself through grounding, centering and creating accurate affirmations to ensure that you are receiving guidance and wisdom from the light. You’ll also learn the best ways to begin and continue the process as the words flow through you. We’ll have different writing experiences throughout the workshop. Debbie will share examples of her own experiences including those which were written in languages she does not speak. Affirmations, an energetic cord cutting and mini soul retrieval ritual will aim at removing any blockages to the writing process. It’s not necessary to have had any prior writing experience.
She has been using automatic writing for over thirty years, not realizing early in her career what was actually happening. She has a strong connection to Mother Mary and receives many messages from her and others at sacred sites and at other times. Debbie is a Reiki Master who chants songs of peace and praise in six languages as she channels from source. She is a motivational speaker who has given presentations throughout Ohio and is the 2015 recipient of the Purpose For Women International award for spirituality.
Debbie is a nondenominational minister, published author and community volunteer. She is a lively and informative speaker and her NYC accent makes you feel as if you’re right back there with her. She has given presentations on different topics at the FOSM gatherings for several years.

Festival Activities
Join us, June 19-21, 2026, as we celebrate the first few days of summer among the foothills of the Appalachia mountains.
Our annual festival highlights the area’s history, heritage, ecology, as well as the multitude of aspects associated with the Serpent Mound Park. The Great Serpent Mound effigy, built by the Ancient Indigenous Peoples, incorporates alignments to the rising and setting of the sun and moon on the solstices and equinoxes. The summer solstice sunset alignment is through the open jaws and across the oval.
There are many theories, stories, ancient knowledge, and unknowns with Serpent Mound. The Friends of Serpent Mound started this festival as a way for the public to share and learn about the many facets of Serpent Mound. Our presenters vary from locals, historians, Indigenous Americans, Scientists, Spiritualist, Musicians, and more. Learn about Serpent Mound and the surrounding area’s history, uniqueness, wildlife, and ecology, along with some fun family friendly summer activities!
Most of our Workshops or hikes are done by our Vendors & fellow Organizations.

Educational booths to visit!
Ohio Atlatl Association
Come out and try your hand or arm at throwing an Atlatl! Learn about the ancient art of the hunting device, the Atlatl. Or watch as the club members compete.
Great Serpent Mound Dowsers
For thousands of years, dowsers have been helping locate water sources all over the World. The Great Serpent Mound Dowsers are a Chapter of the American Society of Dowers (ASD). Stop by their booth to learn several different ways one can dowse. They have helped us behind the scenes every year, supplying supportive volunteers. Visit their booth next to ours.
Artifacts & Ancient Tools & Textiles
In honor of our lost supporter John “Barney” Barnhart. Our education tent will now be know as “The John “Barney” Barnhart Education Tent”. We will be inviting Local collectors like Allen Journey and hopefully others from different Chapters of The Archaeological Society of Ohio, and will offer 12 tables for collectors to display their items.
Arts & Crafters
Many of our vendors work on their arts and crafts at their booths and are always willing to demonstrate and answer questions one might have. Here are some things you will find – beading, Gourd crafts, broom making, jewelry making, and others.
Pioneer Ways
We have a few vendors that will be staying in more primitive tents and will be demonstrating from their booths Traditional Skills, like wool carding & using a spinning wheel, quilting, Dutch over cooking over open fire, primitive fire lighting, gun safety, and flint knapping.
FOSM’s Booths
INFORMATION
Stop at the main FOSM Booth and get information on our Photograph Nature Scavenger Hunt. We started this 2022, the children and their parents/guardians really enjoy themselves. Especially, the children when they show us their images and tell us their stories associated with each one. Each child receives a small prize, but the actual prize was the fun experience they had in exploring nature.
MOBILE MUSEUM
We are again offering a safe space for locals to share their memorabilia of Serpent Mound. Each night the items will be secured and brought back out the next day for viewing.
